Leslie Reichert, who teaches classes as "the green cleaning coach" in the Worcester area, told the Globe how to clean the house in a way that's safe for the environment and for you. And most of it's natural. For starters, read the label, she says: "If you can't say it, don't spray it."

My friend bought me the following amusing and useful book: Labour-Saving Hints and Ideas for the Home. Prior Publications,1991. See: below, pg 97
Idea #618
"Tea Leaves- Do not throw away tea leaves. Collect a week's leaves in a pail. Then pour over one quart of boiling water and leave for one hour. Strain and bottle the brew liquid. This is a splendid gloss-maker if used with a soft piece of flannel on mirrors, glasses, or windows, it makes them shine like crystal. It is also the best cleaner for varnished wood, doors and furniture. Use it also for linoleum."
